Dr. V. P. Singh is a world-renowned Neurosurgeon with over 43 years of pioneering experience, celebrated for starting India’s first Gamma Knife Surgery and Epilepsy Surgery programs at AIIMS, New Delhi, and performing over 400 intracranial aneurysm surgeries.
· As Chairman of the Institute of Neurosciences at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, he leads advanced care in brain tumor surgery, cerebrovascular surgery, radiosurgery (Gamma Knife & CyberKnife), epilepsy surgery, spinal disorders, and functional neurosurgery, with expertise across cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve domains.
· He has published over 70 scientific papers and book chapters, delivered invited lectures at national and international conferences, and received Best Paper Awards at the 4th and 7th Annual Indian Epilepsy Association Conferences, along with a Diploma of Merit for an excellent poster at the 3rd Asian Conference of Neurological Surgeons, Nagoya.
· Trained at AIIMS, New Delhi, he completed his MBBS (1982), MCh Neurosurgery (1987), and DNB Neurosurgery (1989), followed by specialized training in cerebrovascular surgery at Newcastle General Hospital, UK, and radiosurgery at Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, UK.
· Dr. Singh served as Additional Professor and Unit Head of Neurosurgery at AIIMS, mentored generations of neurosurgeons, and worked alongside legendary mentor Prof. A. K. Banerji at VIMHANS and Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi.
· He is a leader in neurosurgical societies — President of Indian Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, Secretary of Indian Society of Cerebrovascular Surgery, Editor of Journal of Pediatric Neurosurgery, and CME Convenor of Neurological Society of India.
· His contributions have transformed epilepsy care, vascular neurosurgery, and radiosurgery in India, earning him recognition as one of the most respected and accomplished neurosurgeons in the country.
