Dr. Dinesh Khullar is the Chairman of the Department of Nephrology and Renal Transplant Medicine at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi.
With over 37 years of experience, he has been involved in more than 5,000 successful kidney transplants, including 1,200+ at Max Hospital, Saket.
His core expertise includes managing high-risk kidney transplant patients, such as ABO-incompatible and highly sensitized recipients, and the use of induction therapies and infection management in transplant cases.
He is highly experienced in newer dialysis modalities, including peritoneal dialysis, and established North India’s first online hemodiafiltration unit at Max Hospital for advanced dialysis care.
Dr. Khullar also plays a key leadership role in clinical governance, overseeing quality control, academic training (DNB and fellowship programs), physician credentialing, and departmental development.
He has successfully performed complex kidney transplants involving comorbid conditions and immunologically challenging recipients.
He has led and contributed to numerous research studies and clinical trials, including serving as the national lead investigator for DAPA-CKD and Transform trials.
Dr. Khullar has authored several national and international publications and is the author of the book "Lupus Nephritis – Pathogenesis & Current Management", highlighting his contribution to nephrology research and education.
