Dr. Deepak Govil is a highly accomplished Surgical Gastroenterologist with over 41 years of experience in gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary surgeries.
He is an expert in advanced surgical procedures such as Portal Hypertension surgery, Splenectomy, Lieno-renal shunts, Ilio-anal anastomosis for ulcerative colitis, Esophageal resection with gastric pull-up, Whipple’s pancreato-duodenectomy, and Hepaticojejunostomy for biliary strictures and tumors.
Dr. Govil has performed over 1,000 liver and gastrointestinal surgeries, including a large number of laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures, showcasing his surgical versatility.
He was instrumental in establishing the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery at PSRI Hospital, New Delhi, raising the standard of GI surgical care in the region.
He was part of the team involved in a landmark liver transplantation surgery at Apollo Hospital on September 15, 2006, highlighting his contribution to complex surgical interventions.
Dr. Govil completed his MBBS (1982) and MS in General Surgery (1986) from AIIMS, New Delhi, and later earned a PhD in Gastrointestinal Surgery from AIIMS in 1995.

From 1999 to 2008, he served as the convener of the Delhi GI Surgeons Club, organizing regular clinical meets to promote collaboration among GI surgeons.
