Dr. Sumit Mrig is a highly accomplished ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) Surgeon based in New Delhi, with over 22 years of professional experience.
He has specialized expertise in sialendoscopy for removing salivary gland stones, as well as anterior and lateral skull base surgeries.
Recognized as one of the youngest cochlear implant surgeons in India and Asia, he has performed over 500 cochlear implant surgeries in the last decade.
Dr. Mrig has successfully treated international patients from countries including Kenya, Sudan, Rwanda, Bangladesh, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Russia, Ethiopia, and Nigeria.
He made history by becoming the first Indian surgeon to establish an independent cochlear implant program in Africa.
Dr. Mrig pioneered binaural cochlear implantation in India, leading the team that performed the country’s first such surgery.
His expertise extends to advanced hearing restoration techniques using BAHA implants, cochlear implants, and bone bridge devices.
He is also proficient in managing ENT-related conditions such as vertigo, sleep apnea, and snoring.
Dr. Mrig completed his MBBS from the University College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, in 2002, followed by an MS and DNB in ENT from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, in 2007 and 2008, respectively.
He received advanced training in cochlear implantation under Prof. Mario Sana at Gruppo Otologica, Piacenza, Italy, and further specialized in sleep apnea and snoring treatment at Singapore General Hospital.
Actively involved in academics, he serves as a reviewer for international ENT journals and has contributed to several global publications.
Dr. Mrig authored a widely used temporal bone dissection manual, which is instrumental in training young ENT surgeons.
For his remarkable contributions to deafness treatment across India, he was honored with the prestigious “Bharat Excellence Award.”
He is an active member of several esteemed organizations, including the Cochlear Implant Group of India, Association of Otolaryngologists of India, and the National Academy of Medical Sciences.
